Helping the community

Our members support the local community through in-kind means such as volunteering in team challenges, working on skilled volunteering projects or becoming trustees or advisers for charities, providing careers talk at local schools, offering work experience to job seekers and donating redundant resources such as office equipment and laptops and more.
We are the only locally based charity to broker in-kind business support to the local voluntary and community sector and we help your business create the most effective and efficient projects to support the community.
Some of our high profile projects include The Giving Tree at Christmas, Connect Well donations to the elderly and the homeless in Winter, Reading RESCUE the environmental clean-up event in Spring and the Pride of Reading Awards.  Our membership network meets up throughout the year to network and hear about local projects and discuss Corporate Social Responsibility developments.  Get in touch to hear more about how we can work with you.

What our members say about us...

"Connect Reading has facilitated what we have done in regards to supporting local charities and it has helped us think in that way. It has given us the roots to doing what we are doing now. Our engagement with Connect Reading has meant that we can do this furniture re-use scheme which has put us in touch with local charities that will benefit. If we did not have that root network then we would not necessarily be doing that. So I think it has definitely made us think slightly different. It is more than just a certificate on the wall; it has got more meaning and depth."

Adrian Powell, Director of Active FM

“Partnering with Connect Reading helps us deliver our community engagement strategy in an efficient way with maximum local impact.”

Tracey Rawling Church, Head of CSR, KYOCERA

"Connect Reading is a fantastic resource linking the public sector, the private sector and charities together. I think that they are a fantastic organisation, they are so easy to contact, so supportive and they offer a fabulous service."

Ian Caren, CEO Launchpad

"It has been a real help to use Connect Reading as the eyes of the community and to tell us what the needs of the community are so that we know we are providing our services in the right place."

Jessica Woodall, HR Officer at Hilton Reading

"I would absolutely recommend Connect Reading; the organisation from start to finish was again extremely good. Our relationship manager, Holly was superb all the way out liaising between us and the project volunteers and also in organising the photo opportunity and press release afterwards. It ran completely smoothly from start to finish so we are looking forward to doing the next one."

Simon Rowland, Relationship Director, Santander
