Sustainable Travel sponsored by Network Rail

The Department for Transport estimates that the cost of congestion to business is set to rise by £10 -12 billion over the period from 2003 to 2025 (expressed in 2002 prices). Peak road congestion in Greater Reading has been identified as a barrier to our continued growth. The number of passengers using Reading station are also set to double by 2030.

We heard an update on investments being made to local transport systems as well as ways that as businesses and individuals we can decrease our environmental impacts for the good of the economy.

Our speakers included Jim Weeden from Network Rail, Kathy Matthews from BG Group, James Freeman from Reading Buses and Anna Windsor from Reading Borough Council.

The event was held on Tuesday 19 June 2012 at the Novotel Reading Hotel.
